The Sustainable Construction Network is a new industry-led initiative which aims to raise awareness of sustainability issues and opportunities within construction and the built environment, and support Hampshire and Isle of Wight businesses in implementing and acting on them.
Responding to the unique issues and pressures facing the construction industry – such as emerging legislation on waste management, the Code for Sustainable Homes, domestic energy and water concerns and the development of innovative practices, technologies and construction materials – a number of public and private sector organisations (see below for details) have joined forces to offer all local businesses access to free information, guidance, training and advice to help meet these challenges head on.
The Network proposes to deliver a range of sector specific events and seminars, backed up with regular communications and up-to-the-minute advice, addressing sustainability at every stage in the build process. It also aims to bring together businesses from across the supply chain in order to facilitate joint working, and to take advantage of opportunities which are currently lost at different stages, from initial design and planning right through to facilities management and maintenance.
Every business involved with the construction industry, from architects to contractors, materials suppliers to waste contractors, is encouraged to join the Network. Membership, and all of the Network’s services, are entirely free of charge and carry no obligation. Through our regular newsletter we will keep you informed of news and developments within the sector, training opportunities and events, relevant existing and emerging legislation and more.
